The perfect drink not only has the right ingredients, it also has balance and depth.

This iced matcha green tea recipe is the perfect drink. It has a subtle sweetness and smooth delicious creaminess that seems to pair perfectly on a warm inviting summer day relaxing on the patio.

Ingredients

  1. 1/4 tsp keto granular sweetener
  2. 1/4 tsp warm water + 2 Tbsp warm water
  3. 2 tsp unsweetened matcha powder
  4. 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  5. 1 1/2 cups macadamia milk*
  6. Handful of ice cubes
  7. Whipped cream (Optional)

Kitchen Gadgets Needed

  1. 24 fl oz cup (with lid makes it to-go friendly)
  2. Straw
  3. Small whisk
  4. Small bowl for mixing

Instructions

  1. Create a simple syrup. Pour the keto sweetener and 1/4 tsp of warm water into a small mixing bowl.
  2. Next add in the remaining 2 Tbsp of water and the matcha powder. Mix throughly with your whisk until the matcha powder is dissolved. 1 minute.
  3. Pour your matcha mixture into a your large cup. Add in the heavy whipping cream, macadamia milk, and ice cubes. Stir with your straw. Add some tasty whipped cream and enjoy!

Make it a frappuccino

  1. Put everything except the whipping cream into a blender. Blend until smooth. About 2 minutes. 
  2. Pour into your cup and add the whipped cream. Enjoy!

Make it Vegan and Dairy-free 

  1. Replace the whipped cream with vegan whipped cream.
  2. Replace the heavy whipping cream with this vegan latte cream
  3. Follow the instructions above as normal. 😉

(*) Note: You can use any keto friendly milk in this recipe. I found that it goes perfectly with macadamia milk so that's what I use.

The iced matcha green tea Spark

It all started many years ago. In my pre-keto years.

I used to buy matcha frappuccinos from Starbucks all.the.time. Basically, every morning. And at $5 a drink those suckers are not cheap. That's $150 dollars a month... not including tax. 😵😵😵

Slowly I grew tired of the long lines, price tag, and the quality changing strictly depends on who made my drink. It was time for a change.

That sparked the idea for me to do my own experimenting. If I can spend a whopping $150 a month on some Starbucks, then I can spare some time and money on figuring things out at home.

It began as all cooking experiments do... in the kitchen. I bought the matcha I knew I needed and broke down the rest of the ingredients. Luckily, drinks are super simple and have many similar aspects, so it was easy to start. 

What took a while was getting the recipe perfect.

The perfect drink not only has the right ingredients, it also has balance and depth. 


Something that when you drink it you get to enjoy the surprising undertones. One that gets you so excited that you look forward to making it time and time again.

It has an authentic matcha flavor with a light nutty undertone and a creamy deliciousness that sparks joy in every sip. I'm so glad that I was able to convert this recipe to fit my keto lifestyle.

Who says you have to give up all your favorite treats?

Now I get to enjoy this without consuming loads of sugar. The ingredients lasts so long that it only cost me less than $1 per a large drink. 💚
