I wanted to show you the pizza box unopened and talk about how to make it before I go and cook it.

What low carb pizza is good for
The official product description from evolfoods.com:
"Pizza crust like you’ve never seen it before. The not-so-secret ingredients in this 100% grain-free crust? Chicken and savory Parmesan cheese, which harmonize for a flavorful balance of crispy and chewy. Topped with a robust marinara sauce, a blanket of gooey mozzarella cheese, and spicy uncured pepperoni, this gluten-free, low-carb-friendly pepperoni pizza might just earn us the title of your new favorite ’za joint.”
Does EVOL. Low Carb Pizza Taste Good?
What is my first impression as an experienced eater of low carb foods? Honestly, the brand EVOL. sounds like evil and that throws me off. OMG and it has the “.” after the word.
It’s saying to me we’re “evil .” done end of story.
Not sure if that’s the message they want to have associated with their company. Haha. I know it can’t be just me....
The first time I bit into the EVOL. pizza I didn't know what to expect. It has a great smell. A nice mix of chicken, pepperoni, and cheese.
When I bit into the pizza the texture was even throughout. Sometimes when we buy store bought pizzas and when they are baked they either are too black on the crust and perfect in the center or kind of gooey into the center and perfect in the crust. Amiright?
And with this chicken and cheese crust, I really didn't know what to expect. Luckily the crust/base of the pizza came out great!
Not only was the base of the pizza even, the flavor was great overall. The combination of the pepperoni and cheese was great. The only warning I would give is that the chicken flavor (from the crust) is present, so if you're not a fan of a really strong chicken flavor in your pizza then this may not be the right choice for you.
“And with this chicken and cheese crust, I really didn't know what to expect. Luckily the crust/base of the pizza came out great!”
What are the macros for EVOL. low carb pizza?
These are the macros for the entire pizza Carbs: 8 grams
Net carbs: 8 grams
Protein: 37 grams
Fats: 26 grams
Now normally those numbers who be fine, except that this pizza is only 7.5 oz - less than 1⁄2 a pound.
What are the pro's of EVOL. low carb pizza?
Now that I gave you my initial reaction to the pizza I want to speak on some pros and cons, so you’ll know if this product is right for you.
● I love the idea of the shredded chicken and parmesan crust. That’s a neat twist to the traditional fat-head keto pizza dough.
This reminds me of making chicken nuggets. You have to blend the chicken then mold, so maybe that’s where they got the idea from.
Fat head dough is a dough made of cheese and cream cheese
● There are so many real ingredients on the ingredients list. Things that I don’t have to look up to know what they are. Score!
● It’s gluten free
What are the con's of EVOL. low carb pizza?
● Sugar. Huge con for the keto diet. Although the ingredients list claims that there is less than 2% of cane sugar in this pizza - still it’s there
● It averages $5 a box. So about the price of a regular sized store brand frozen pizza.
It’s only 7.5 oz - not very big. Some people might need two boxes to fill them up.
● Lastly EVOL. brand is not a small business it’s owned by Conagra brands food. Conagra foods owns 69 food brands as of this filming
With everything going on I’m trying to support more and more small businesses.
I think of it more as a family being able to support their kids or helping a fellow entrepreneur enjoy the fruits of their labor.
I know that’s not always realistic when buying, but I still value helping small businesses stay afloat when possible.
What are people saying about EVOL. low carb pizza?
Normally before purchasing a new product I like to know some common things other people are saying. If you’re like that as well-awesome! Because I looked up some common reviews that I want to share you with.
Usually I use 3rd party sites to get reviews because I tend to find them more honest, but I could not find this product sold on any 3rd party sites - that being said my only resource is the website itself.
The overall censuses on evolfoods.com is...
1. The crust
Not as crispy as a traditional pizza
It does not cook well without modifying from the given instructions
2. The size
Really small. Smaller than a personal pan pizza.
That would explain the value of product rating.
3. A great blend of flavor
Overall people seemed to like how the flavors blend together, they just don’t like the crust
3.3 / 5 stars
Quality of product: 3.4/5
Value of product: 3.2/5
Side note: Many people are seeming to find these in discount grocery stores so if you want to try these pizzas, they check those stores out.
Now let’s tie up this review with who this product is best for.
Who is EVOL. low carb pizza best for?
So who is this pizza best for?
Considering everything we learned this pizza is not suited for someone who is really strict with their food intake. Remember this pizza has sugar in it - no matter how low on the list it may be.
So if you fall under the dirty keto, lazy keto, or even cheat day approved keto than bam here ya go.
EVOL. pizza seems perfect for someone who doesn’t want to make pizza from scratch but still wants to enjoy an easy and fresh low-carb pizza.
If you fall under either of those than this pizza may be just what you’re looking for - especially if you can find it on sale!
A keto coaches final thoughts on EVOL. low carb pizza
Now here comes my personal thoughts on this product.
Based on everything I learned, the flavor, and the brand itself I think these are worth a try.
I personally thought the texture of the pizza was good.
Overall I like this pizza. As I touched on earlier the biggest concern for me is the sugar and that it’s not small business owned. I really try to support those as much as possible - but that can be easier said than done when it comes to buying pre-made food at easily accessible grocery stores. AKA anything outside of specialty stores.
If budget is a concern I’d suggest either waiting until these go on sale or check out a discount grocery store.
I personally thought the shredded chicken crust was quite ingenious. I’ll be playing around with making my own version of this pizza crust on a larger scale so more people in my family can enjoy it and I can get that nice crispness that it seems to lack.
When I perfect the crust should I share the recipe? Let me know!
If you decide to try this pizza. Tag me and tell me your thoughts. I so value hearing from you.
